Eddie The Eagle (2015)
The sports drama Eddie the Eagle features Taron Egerton playing the role of Michael “Eddie” Edwards, who got cut from the Olympic ski team of the UK. To test his skills in ski jumping, Eddie goes to Germany, where he runs into ski-jumper-turned-snowplow-driver Bronson Peary (played by Hugh Jackman). Eddie impresses Peary with his determination, and Peary agrees to train Eddie. From the start, Eddie is counted out but his efforts pay off and he makes it to the Olympics in 1988. The film won an Empire Award and a Teen Choice Award.
Che: Part One (2008)
Che: Part One is part of an epic biopic that centers around Che Guevara, who was a doctor from Argentina that became a revolutionary. The first part of the film started in 1955 Mexico, with Guevara agreeing to join Fidel Castro’s rebel campaign aimed at overthrowing the Batista regime (US-backed) in Cuba. Guevara is played by Benicio del Toro, and Part One details how Guevara and Castro installed an independent socialist state in the country after the violent ousting of Batista in 1959. The film won a Best Actor Award at Cannes and a couple of Goya Awards—one for Best Art Direction and one for Best Actor.
