Changeling (2008)
Starring Angelina Jolie, this eerie movie tells the story of Christine Collins, a single mom who realizes her son is not actually her son. Changeling is based on the Wineville Chicken Coop Murders, which happened in Mira Loma, California between 1926 and 1928. A manhunt ensues when Collins realizes that her son, Walter, is missing. Found in Illinois, Walter is returned to Collins. However, Collins immediately recognizes that the boy is not her son. With the police refusing to listen to her, her only ally is a priest (played by John Malkovich) who is looking to expose the corruption in the LAPD.

Lonely Hearts (2006)
The 2006 neo-noir movie Lonely Hearts is based on the spree killing in the ‘40s that the Lonely Hearts Killers were responsible for. The killers were Raymond Fernandez (portrayed by Jared Leto) and Martha Beck (portrayed by Salma Hayek). The movie also features John Travolta and James Gandolfini, who plays the detectives that are trying to catch the couple. Fernandez and Beck’s victims were women who responded to the pair’s personal ads in the paper. The two murdered at least a dozen people during their killing spree. The movie had a box office gross $2.52 million.
