Invincible (2006)
The sports drama Invincible is based on the life of Vince Papale. Mark Wahlberg plays Papale, a massive football fan and bartender/high school teacher who gets to live out his wildest dreams after trying out for the Philadelphia Eagles. Having made the team as a kicker at 30 years old, he becomes the oldest rookie in the NFL who has not played NCAA football. Ericson Core directed the movie, which was released by Disney. It had a box office gross of $58.5 million, though its budget was just around $19 million.

Leonardo DiCaprio stars as J. Edgar Hoover in this film about the FBI director and how he became one of America’s most powerful men for almost 50 years. Hoover served through three wars and eight presidents, becoming the FBI’s ruthless face. This Golden Globe-nominated movie had Clint Eastwood as its director, so J. Edgar Hoover’s portrayal is more fawning and less accurate. Hoover was notoriously private in his personal life and in public. Naomi Watts and Armie Hammer also star in the film.
