La Bamba (1987)
La Bamba focuses on the success of LA teen Ritchie Valens (portrayed by Lou Diamond Phillips), who turned into an overnight singing sensation when he wrote the love song “Donna” for his then-girlfriend, a white girl whose parents didn’t want her to go out with a Latino boy. The film shows the teenaged Ritchie Valens’ struggle with success, including the conflicts he has with his jealous brother and the nightmares he had about a plane crash, which later came true. Luis Valdez wrote and directed this 1987 movie.

Man On The Moon (1999)
This film tells the story of entertainer Andy Kaufman, who was both eccentric and innovative. Jim Carrey plays Kaufman in this dramedy, which had a box office gross of $47.4 million. Directed by Milos Forman, Man on the Moon received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor and won the award, among other accolades. Danny DeVito was one of the film’s producers, and he also played George Shapiro in the movie.
