I, Tonya (2017)
When people hear the name Tonya Harding, they usually think of cracking someone’s kneecaps by her ex-husband and his stupid friend, who launched an attack on Nancy Kerrigan, Harding’s rival in the 1994 Olympics. I, Tonya seeks to give Harding a voice. The film tells the story of her tough childhood, her harsh mother (portrayed well by Allison Janney), and what actually happened during the Olympics. When you finish I, Tonya, you will have a completely new perception of Harding’s actual legacy.
Flash Of Genius (2008)
This movie stars Greg Kinnear as Robert Kearns, an inventor who wages a costly legal battle against car companies to get what he is due – name recognition and financial reward. A college professor, Kearns invented what we now know as the intermittent windshield wiper, revolutionizing the automotive industry. In the ‘60s, he brought his invention to an auto convention in Detroit for the first time. While his invention was a massive hit, Kearns was taken out of the picture since the Big Three auto companies practically stole his idea.
