Once Upon A Time In Hollywood (2019)
Quentin Tarantino may have taken great artistic liberties, but Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is actually based on a true story, so the film makes this list. This film is about actor Rick Dalton (who was famous during the ‘50s) and his friend and stunt double, Cliff Booth. Dalton and Booth are neighbors with actress Sharon Tate and director Roman Polanski. The Manson Family murdered Tate and six other people in ritualistic killings under Charles Manson’s direction. Booth and Dalton are fictional characters, but Tate and Manson are real people.
Woman In Gold (2015)
Helen Mirren stars as Maria Altmann in Woman in Gold. During the invasion of Vienna by the Nazi, the elderly Jewish woman Maria Altmann’s family possessions were seized. She had to flee Austria with only the clothes she was wearing, and the film depicts the arduous legal struggle she had to go through in order to reclaim her possessions, particularly her Aunt Adele’s portrait, which Gustave Klimt had done. Ryan Reynolds plays the young, hotshot lawyer Randy Schoeberg, who helps her. Simon Curtis directed Woman in Gold and Alexi Campbell wrote the screenplay.
