It felt like just another day at work at first. In the morning, officer Jeff Colvin began his patrol, which he did every day on the job. He looked around for the small hand as he reached the enormous window facing the road. There was no child by the window, to his surprise. Where might the kid be? In his stomach, he felt a ball of dread form. Her absence could not have been a good sign. He knew that, as soon as possible, he had to do something about it. As she was looking around for Rio, Briana was full of anxiety. She checked every nook and cranny of her daughter’s apartment.
