The Family That Sings Together
The siblings called Singing McEntires did sing in local bars, dance halls, local rodeos competition, and honky-tonks. They also produce their recording named “The Ballad of John McEntire.” The title of the song was the same as their grandfather’s name. They were able to release a thousand copies of their hit record. They even created two major hits known “If I Could Only Be With You,” and “God Never Cried.” The songs were played in the entire local radio stations throughout Oklahoma. The Singing McEntires also sang in live performances.

A Lesson For A Lifetime
The time when Reba was still a member of Singing McEntires, she was baptized. When the family would go for another trip to their gig, she asked her mother if they could ask everyone at the dance hall that they should come to church on Sunday morning. The statement of Reba’s mother became a lesson in her everyday life. Jacqueline asked her daughter why some people did not like to go to church. The singer realized the lesson and shared in the interview, “that was my first lesson on passing judgment. You don’t know what other people do. You don’t know their heart.” It was the most important lesson she ever had.
